Tara and Suede's first litter turned out so nice we decided to do a repeat litter. Tara gave birth to 10 black puppies, 5 girls and 5 boys. We named it the Summer Litter because they were born at the beginning of the summer & it was a busy one indeed!

Blue Boy - Acadia's Summer Flight CGC CD "Jet". Our first male dog ever, Jet has taken some getting used to - boys & girls are different. Just ask the dead rose bush. He is a clown, very outgoing & when he wags his tail his whole back end wiggles. Tara still keeps him in his place and showers him with kisses. June, 2013: Jet became a father earlier this year when he sired a litter with our Emma (Cosmic litter). His daughter Stella spent a week with us in June & he loved to play with her. June 2017: Jet is still in good health although he is getting gray on his chin. In May he strutted around the ring for the first time as a Veteran at our national specialty. 2020: Jet is getting very gray and is starting to slow down a bit but he does get bursts of puppy behavior especially if there is a tennis ball involved and he's always ready for a swim. He is very tolerant and patient with our 1 year old Boykin Spaniel, Charlotte. February 28, 2022: We said good bye to Jet this morning. He passed away from a tumor in his heart that was discovered just 2 weeks before when he was at the vet for a check up.

Pink Girl - Acadia Summer Sunshine "Tabby". Tabby lives near us with Pat & David Bauer in Horseheads, NY. We were in cahoots with Pat for several weeks - Tabby was a birthday surprise for David! June, 2013: Pat reports that Tabby is a wonderful dog. She loves everyone especially her best friend & housemate, Willie the Yorkie. July, 2017: Tabby passed away very quickly from Lymphoma within a couple of weeks of diagnosis.

Lavender Girl - Acadia Summer Night "Summer". Summer went home to Kennett Square, PA with Brian Sullivan & Alycia. She has a canine big brother, Morgan, a Golden Retriever. They love to swim in the pool together & play tug of war. June 2018: Sadly Brian lost Summer to cancer a month before her birthday. "She was the most loving dog I ever had and maybe ever met." Even as a puppy she was a sweetheart and very affectionate.

Green Boy - Acadia's Summer Huckleberry "Huck". Huck went to a very special home. He lives in Asheville, NC with his Uncle Zeke, Tara's brother. They live with Bob Jackson & Steve Janton & do lots of hiking, backpacking, swimming & enjoying the great outdoors. They also visit Tara & Zeke's brother Cooper in Asheville. March 2013 - Bob & Steve decided they needed another Flat-Coat so they added Finn to the family. He is from Emma's Cosmic litter. Finn is Zeke's great-nephew & Huck's nephew. May 9, 2019: We just learned today that Huck recently passed away from a stroke. He had been doing great; had gone swimming with Finn in the morning and passed suddenly after lunch. Bob, Steve and Finn miss him terribly. He's now running free with Tara, Suede and his Uncle Zeke

Red Boy - Acadia's Summer Knight "Boomer" lives in Williamsville, NY with Shirley Anain and her 3 active kids. 2017: Boomer loves the pool! 2018: Shirley tells us that Boomer is doing great! 2020: "Boomer is still the loud and high energy puppy he has always been!" November 26, 2023: Boomer passed away during the Thanksgiving weekend with his family around him. Shirley believes that he died of old age. At 14 years and 5 months he was the oldest of our pups so far to cross the bridge.

Yellow Girl - Acadia Bluemoon's Walk'n On Sunshine JH "Sunny". Sunny also went to a special home. At 14 weeks she went home to South Wales, NY with Kathy Sainsbury to live with Blue, the litter's paternal grandfather. The family also includes Ed Miley, son, Eric, another FCR, Sky, and a Cavalier. Ed field trains his retrievers & Sunny earned her JH (Junior Hunter title) at one year old. We see her often & help handle her in the show ring when we can. June, 2013: Kathy tells us that Sunny is happy & exuberant. She swears she has springs the way she bounces around. November 25, 2019: Sunny passed away today due to a tumor on her leg. Sunny was in a lot of pain and was not able to put any weight on the leg the week before so Kathy and Ed made the difficult decision to let her go.

Purple Girl - Acadia 4th of July, Asbury Park "Gems" (formerly known as Gemma). We had co-own Gems with Jane Richter but in January 2013 she was returned to us. Since we had a litter of 2 day old puppies we had to find either a forever or foster home quickly. Our daughter & son-in-law offered to take her until we could find a permanent home for her. Scot fell in love with her so she now lives in Rochester, NY with the Rose family which includes her older brother Otto from the Rainbow litter. Gems had taken a 2 year break from the show ring & we are now showing her again. In June she surprised us by earning her first major against a very competitive group. In the spring of 2014 we bred Gems to Phoenix, a very nice liver boy. On June 25th she gave birth to the Gemstone Litter - 4 liver and 2 black pups. 2017: Gems is doing well - living the life of leisure in Rochester with our daughter, son-in-law and 2 1/2 year old granddaughter who loves her to pieces. August 10, 2019: Gems suddenly passed away due to what we think was a fast growing tumor. She will be sorely missed by our whole family.

White Girl - Acadia's Fleur de l'Ete "Lily". Lily and her family, Amy Ludik, Chuck Furman, & their daughter, Annie, live in Delmar, NY. She is the first of our puppies to follow in Tara's pawsteps & visit Acadia National Park. Amy reports that Lily is a great traveler & hiker, and even went on a schooner tour of Frenchman Bay off Bar Harbor. 2017: Annie has grown up & is now at college most of the year so Lily has decided that Chuck is her favorite person when Annie is gone. She has been easy to train and will even get the paper & mail! She gives Chuck a kiss every day when he leaves for work making Amy a bit jealous. March 2018: When Chuck saw our picture of Emma & Luna he sent an almost identical one of Lily and her new housemate Rocky. October 17, 2019: Lily passed away this morning from cancer. She had been diagnosed in August but had continued to give the family companionship for 2 more months. Like most Flat-Coats her tail was wagging right up until she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.

Orange Boy - Acadia Orange Afternoon Delight "Jesse". Jesse lives in East Aurora, NY with Chris DelGuidice, Natalie & Henry, a Golden Retriever. We see Jesse & Chris fairly often when we visit Suede's owner in Gasport. We try to get together for a doggie family reunion when we're up that way. June 2013: Chris tells us that Jesse is very fast especially when he is going after a Frisbee. He also enjoys camping with his family. 2020: Jesse now has 2 human sisters whose couch he squeezes into every day. He is fighting a case of Lyme disease but is pulling through. Chris says Jesse is not quite up to the hikes of the past and is getting pretty gray. Luckily he has a 5 year old Golden brother to help keep him young. September 2, 2020: Tonight Jesse lost his fight with Lyme disease. His body had been slowly going downhill but mentally he was still as sharp as ever. He will be greatly missed by the family, especially by the girls.

Burgundy Boy - Acadia Summer Phenix. "Phenix" Phenix lives very close to us in Horseheads, NY with Lindsay Whalen, Josh Mattucci, their 2 little boys & their Golden Retriever, Sandy. Phenix & Jet were in the same obedience class as puppies. Lindsay brings Phenix to visit his mom & brother & we often see them at dog related activities in the area. Rainbow Bridge: On March 1, 2012 Phenix passed away due to a fast moving bone cancer.
